What should you know about derma e microdermabrasion?

A device moves across cleansed skin and uses controlled abrasion with suction to lift surface debris. Some systems use a diamond tip or fine crystals; the device and settings should be selected for the treatment area and skin type.

It may be considered for dullness, mild uneven texture or superficial congestion. It does not remove deep scars, treat an active infection or replace care for a changing mole. Results and irritation risk vary with pressure, passes, skin sensitivity and the products used afterward.

Tell the practitioner about eczema, rosacea, cold sores, active acne, recent sun exposure and products such as retinoids or exfoliating acids. Arrive with clean skin and follow the clinic’s instructions about pausing irritants.

Afterward, use a gentle cleanser, bland moisturiser and sunscreen. Avoid picking flakes, hot water, vigorous exercise if it worsens irritation, and strong exfoliants until the skin has settled. A mild feeling of tightness or temporary redness can occur.

Contact the clinic if redness intensifies, pain becomes significant, blisters appear, swelling spreads or the treated skin develops crusting or discharge. Prompt assessment is also sensible if dark or pale colour change persists, especially in skin that marks easily.
