What should you know about dengue warning sign?

Dengue can change quickly, particularly around the time a Fever starts to settle. Warning signs may reflect fluid loss, bleeding or problems with circulation and need prompt clinical assessment. They are different from ordinary aches or tiredness alone. Nose or gum bleeding, blood in vomit or stool, new Easy Bruising, severe abdominal pain and persistent vomiting are especially concerning. A person with dengue may initially seem better when the temperature falls, so that change is not proof that danger has passed.

If warning signs appear, seek urgent medical care and take a list of medicines and recent illness details. Do not take aspirin or ibuprofen unless a clinician tells you to. While arranging care, offer small frequent drinks if the person is awake and able to swallow, but do not delay emergency help to increase fluids. Keep the person resting and protected from mosquito bites. A GP Consultation can guide milder symptoms, but warning signs need urgent evaluation.

Go to emergency care for severe abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, any significant bleeding, black stools, vomiting blood, difficulty breathing, fainting, confusion, cold clammy skin or very little urine. Headache, Chills or Joint Pain can occur with dengue, but they do not by themselves show that severe dengue is developing. If your condition worsens, seek help immediately.

Ask which symptoms should trigger emergency care, how often to drink and urinate, whether repeat blood tests are needed, and which medicines are safe for fever or pain.
