Dark yellow reddish urine: what to know

A deeper yellow can follow fluid loss, while red or pink may follow beetroot or some medicines. It can also represent blood from the urinary tract. Burning, urgency, passing urine often, lower abdominal pain, or side pain can help identify the pattern, but none confirms the cause. Reddish urine after strenuous activity, an injury, or with clots needs medical attention. Tea-colored urine with yellow eyes or skin, pale stools, nausea, or unusual tiredness is another reason to seek prompt advice. Do not infer the seriousness from color intensity alone.

Take note of whether the color is pink, red, brown, or simply deep yellow, and whether it appears throughout urination. Consider recent foods, medicines, menstrual or vaginal bleeding, exercise, and injury.
