What should you know about dark neck and skin tags?

Acanthosis nigricans can produce darker, thicker, velvety skin in the neck and other folds. Skin tags are soft, small growths that commonly arise where skin rubs, including the neck and underarms. Their presence together can be a useful clue for a clinician, but it does not identify the cause by itself.
