Can fallen arches be cured?

Short answer
Fallen arches cannot always be reshaped, but symptoms often improve with supportive footwear, tailored exercises and treatment matched to the cause.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

Understanding fallen arches
Flat feet describe a low or absent visible arch when standing. Some feet are naturally flatter and work well without treatment; others become painful when the arch-supporting muscles, tendons or joints are overloaded. New arch pain, foot pain, ankle fatigue or changes on one side deserve an examination. A clinician may observe you walking, assess calf flexibility and check how the foot changes when you stand on your toes. Symptoms may also overlap with plantar fasciitis or pain around the kneecap, so the name alone does not identify the source.
Ways to manage symptoms
Choose shoes with enough room, a stable sole and support that feels comfortable. A podiatrist or orthotist can assess whether custom orthotics are appropriate rather than assuming every flat foot needs them. Exercise therapy may target the calf, foot muscles, balance and hip control; progress should be gradual and guided by symptoms. Physiotherapy can also review walking, standing and work demands. Avoid suddenly increasing running, long walks or barefoot time on hard surfaces if these clearly worsen symptoms. Weight-bearing pain, stiffness or a newly changing arch should be assessed before you start an intensive programme.
When to seek care
Book an assessment if pain interferes with work, sport or ordinary walking, or if one arch has changed recently. Seek prompt help after an injury, when the foot is hot and swollen, when you cannot bear weight, or when numbness or weakness appears. Children and adults with persistent symptoms may need different assessments, so age and the timing of the change matter.
Questions for your doctor
Are my arches flexible or structurally fixed? Which tissues are causing my symptoms? Would custom orthotics help my activities? Which exercises should I begin, and how should I increase them? Could my knee or heel symptoms be connected?

Questions people ask
Do all fallen arches need treatment?
No. A painless, stable foot often needs no treatment; care is guided by symptoms and function.
Can exercises rebuild an arch?
Exercises can improve muscle control and comfort, but they may not permanently change the shape of every foot.
