What it may mean

Flu can inflame the nose, throat and breathing tubes. Repeated hard coughing may break tiny surface vessels, leaving a small red streak in mucus. Blood can also come from a dry or bleeding nose or irritated throat and then be brought up while coughing. The flu symptoms do not identify the source by themselves.
