What should you know about copper coils for heating?

A heating coil is designed to carry electrical current and produce heat in equipment. It is not sterile, shaped, tested, or approved for use in the body. A copper intrauterine device is a specialised contraceptive placed inside the uterus by a qualified clinician. Similar wording does not mean the products are interchangeable.

If contraception is your goal, ask a licensed clinic about a copper IUD rather than buying a heating component or loose copper wire. The clinician can review your bleeding pattern, pelvic symptoms, pregnancy risk, and preferences. Copper IUDs contain no hormones, but some users have heavier periods or more cramping. They do not protect against sexually transmitted infections.

After a proper IUD fitting, seek prompt care for severe or increasing pelvic pain, fever, unusual discharge, very heavy bleeding, or suspected pregnancy.
