Short answer

Compression clothing can smooth and support loose skin on a larger body, but it does not remove skin or replace assessment of pain, swelling, circulation, or skin damage.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

At a glance

What it may help
Support, smoother clothing fit, and reduced rubbing.
What it cannot do
Remove excess skin or permanently tighten stretched tissue.

What compression can change

A well-fitted garment may reduce rubbing, help clothing sit more smoothly, and provide a feeling of support around the abdomen, thighs, arms, or chest. It cannot tighten stretched skin permanently or change the underlying amount of fatty tissue. Extra weight, sweating, skin folds, limited mobility, and a garment that rolls can all increase friction and moisture. People with diabetes, reduced sensation, circulation problems, or active rashes need individual guidance before using firm compression.

Choosing and wearing it

Choose a garment measured for your current body rather than forcing into a smaller size. Put it on without twisting, bunching, or trapping skin folds, and remove it often enough to wash, dry, and inspect the skin as advised. A breathable fabric and careful hygiene can reduce moisture-related irritation. Stop using it if you develop persistent numbness, throbbing, color change, open areas, or worsening pain. For visible laxity, a clinician can discuss options such as Thread Lift, HIFU Skin Lifting, or Radiofrequency Skin Tightening after examining skin quality and goals.

Signs that need medical attention

Arrange medical review for a sore that does not heal, spreading redness, warmth, pus, repeated bleeding, or swelling that is new or rapidly worsening. Seek urgent help for sudden breathlessness, chest pain, fainting, or a painful limb that becomes cold or discolored. Do not cover a suspected infection with tight clothing while waiting for care.

Questions to take along

Ask what compression level and garment shape fit your health conditions, how to protect skin folds, and whether swelling needs a separate evaluation. If laxity affects movement, ask whether Droopy Eyelids, Sun-Damaged Skin, or Sagging Skin information is relevant to the area you are concerned about.

Questions people ask

Should compression clothing feel uncomfortable?

Mild pressure can feel snug, but pain, numbness, breathlessness, deep marks, or skin color change signals a poor fit or a medical concern.

Will it get rid of loose skin?

No. It can temporarily contain and smooth tissue while worn; it does not remove excess skin.
