CO2 laser treatment for stretch marks

Stretch marks form when skin stretches and supporting fibres change. CO2 laser energy creates controlled injury in selected skin layers, prompting healing and collagen remodelling. This may soften uneven texture or reduce contrast, but mature pale marks and newer red or purple marks can respond differently.

The body area, mark age, skin tone, tendency to form raised scars, pregnancy or breastfeeding status, and any active rash should be reviewed. A clinician should also explain the possibility of prolonged redness or pigment change after inflammation.

Bring a list of medicines and products, mention previous poor healing or cold sores, and follow instructions about sun exposure before treatment. Afterwards, cleanse and protect the area exactly as directed, avoid scratching or peeling, and use clothing or sunscreen to limit ultraviolet exposure when permitted.

Several approaches may be considered. Fractional Laser Treatment, Microneedling, RF Microneedling, or Carboxytherapy may suit different mark patterns and recovery preferences. The choice should follow an examination rather than the name of the procedure alone.

Contact the clinic if pain increases, redness spreads, swelling becomes marked, drainage develops, fever occurs, or the treated skin develops blisters or an expanding dark patch. Seek urgent help for rapidly worsening swelling or breathing difficulty.
