Cloudy urine causes

Low fluid intake can make urine concentrated and hazy. Crystals may form when dissolved minerals collect, while mucus or discharge can cloud a specimen during collection. A urinary tract infection can cause cloudiness alongside burning, urgency, frequency, or an unusual smell. Kidney infection is more likely to present with fever, chills, nausea, or pain in the back or side. Blood or protein can also change urine appearance and needs evaluation, particularly when the change persists.

Consider recent fluid intake, heat exposure, exercise, new supplements, and whether the sample was collected cleanly. Drink according to thirst and your usual medical advice. Do not use appearance alone to diagnose an infection. If the change repeats, a clinician can examine a properly collected sample and decide whether culture or additional checks are appropriate. Keep a short record of timing and accompanying symptoms.
