Cloudy Urine and Burning When You Pee: What to Know

Pain or burning during urination suggests irritation somewhere along the urinary passage. A urinary tract infection can cause this combination with urgency, frequent small amounts, bladder discomfort, or a strong smell. Concentrated urine from dehydration may sting, while soaps, sexual activity, stones, or other infections can irritate the area without the same cause. Fever, chills, nausea, or flank pain can signal that infection has moved higher in the urinary system and should not be watched casually.

A urine sample may help guide treatment; describe any discharge, blood, genital irritation, new sexual contact, pregnancy possibility, or recent medication.
