What should you know about cloudy light yellow urine?

Yellow urine can be normal, particularly when it is slightly more concentrated. The cloudy part may reflect crystals, mucus, skin or vaginal discharge mixing with the sample, or inflammatory cells. A urinary tract infection may present with stinging during urination, urgency, frequent trips to the toilet, pelvic discomfort, or an altered smell. A kidney infection can cause fever, chills, nausea, and pain in the back or side alongside urinary changes. Dehydration can cause thirst, dry mouth, dizziness, and less urine, although urine color alone cannot confirm it.

Check whether the change remains when you next urinate and whether it happens after normal fluid intake. Keep track of associated symptoms, medicines, supplements, and any discharge. Seek clinical advice instead of relying on color to choose treatment. A clean-catch urine sample may help identify infection or other findings when the appearance persists or symptoms are present.
