Ciplar is a brand name commonly used for propranolol, a beta blocker. The number in the name refers to the tablet strength, but the correct dose and schedule depend on your health, other medicines, and the reason for the palpitations.

Beta blockers can slow the heart rate and reduce the body's response to adrenaline. This may ease a pounding or racing sensation linked to stress, some rhythm problems, or another trigger; it does not identify or remove the trigger itself. Palpitations can occur with dehydration, anaemia, iron deficiency anaemia, an overactive thyroid, low blood sugar, anxiety, or an abnormal rhythm such as atrial fibrillation.
