When did the chickenpox vaccine start?

Different countries adopted varicella vaccination at different times and may use different schedules. That is why the date a programme began is less useful for an individual than the person’s age, prior chickenpox, vaccination record, pregnancy status, and immune health. The vaccine is designed to prevent chickenpox; it is not a cure for an existing rash.
