Reading the image
The image can show the heart outline and signs of congestion. Similar changes can have other causes, and early heart failure may not be obvious. Clinicians consider breathlessness, cough, fatigue, swollen ankles and examination findings. An echocardiogram, heart tracing or blood test may help assess heart function.
