What If a Cherry Angioma Is Growing Rapidly?

Cherry angiomas are small blood-vessel growths that often remain fairly consistent once established. A spot that enlarges quickly, becomes raised, darkens, or starts bleeding may have been irritated, but it may also be another type of lesion. The symptom of rapid growth does not by itself identify the condition. Examination allows the clinician to assess its edges, surface, colour, and depth.

Take a focused photograph in good light, note when you first noticed the change, and avoid scratching or squeezing the area. Do not burn or cut it at home. Arrange a dermatology appointment and mention recent trauma, new medicines, easy bruising, or bleeding elsewhere. Seek prompt medical assessment for rapid enlargement accompanied by persistent bleeding, an open sore, marked pain, spreading redness, or pus. Apply clean, steady pressure to active bleeding. Attend urgently if pressure does not control it or if you feel faint. Do not delay an assessment because the spot resembles a familiar red mole.

Ask what features support the diagnosis, whether the lesion needs sampling, how soon it should be reviewed, and whether removal should wait until its identity is clear.
