Cellulitis Therapy

A clinician assesses the skin, how quickly it changed, and your general health. Treatment may be taken by mouth, while serious illness or inability to take medicine may require healthcare-based treatment. A collection of pus may need drainage. A cut, ulcer, bite, eczema flare, or Athlete's Foot can be an entry point. Type 2 Diabetes should be mentioned because it can alter the plan.

Use treatment exactly as prescribed. Keep the area clean, protect any wound with the advised dressing, rest, and raise an affected limb when practical. Avoid scratching, squeezing, vigorous massage, and unapproved creams. Note changes in Skin Redness, Painful Skin, warmth, and Skin Swelling, and contact the clinic if these worsen.

Seek urgent care for rapidly spreading redness, severe pain, significant swelling, Fever, confusion, faintness, extreme weakness, or breathing difficulty. These signs may point to a serious infection or Sepsis.

Ask what improvement should look like, how to manage the wound, and when treatment should be reviewed. Ask whether Athlete's Foot needs treatment and which changes require immediate review.
