What should you know about cellulitis orthobullets?

Cellulitis commonly causes a warm, tender, red, swollen area, often on an arm or leg. The border may expand, and nearby lymph nodes can feel sore. It can follow a wound, insect bite, injection, ulcer, or skin crack. Athlete's Foot is one possible source of breaks in the skin.

Assessment considers the speed of change, the depth of pain, the person's general condition, and conditions such as Type 2 Diabetes. A collection of pus, a joint problem, a deeper wound, or another diagnosis may need different care, so appearance alone is not enough.

Arrange prompt medical assessment rather than waiting for the redness to settle on its own. Keep any wound covered with a clean dressing, wash hands before touching it, and rest the affected limb. Elevate it to reduce dependent swelling. Do not puncture a lump or apply irritating products without advice.

Fever, chills, confusion, faintness, or fast breathing require emergency help because they may accompany Sepsis.

Ask whether the infection involves only skin, whether a wound or abscess needs separate care, how soon follow-up is needed, and how Type 2 Diabetes or circulation problems change monitoring.
