CBC blood work: what it checks and what results mean

CBC blood work is a complete blood count that measures red cells, white cells, haemoglobin, and platelets in a blood sample. It can help clinicians investigate tiredness, infection, inflammation, bruising, bleeding, or changes found during a routine check. The report is one part of an assessment, not a diagnosis by itself.

Red-cell and haemoglobin measurements relate to oxygen transport. White-cell measurements describe immune cells, and platelet measurements relate to clot formation.
