What should you know about cafe skin spots?

People use “cafe skin spot” to describe a tan-to-brown area that stands out from the surrounding skin. The surface is commonly flat and smooth. Colour alone cannot identify every cause, so examination of the border, texture, distribution and history matters. The mark may have been present for years, or it may simply have become easier to notice. One isolated, unchanged spot can be benign, while a cluster of marks or accompanying physical findings may lead a clinician to consider a broader assessment.
