Bumps Under the Eye Skin: What to Know

Tiny, firm, pale bumps are commonly associated with Milia. Red or itchy bumps may occur with Folliculitis, Heat Rash, or contact irritation. Rough, persistent or differently coloured patches can require assessment for conditions such as Keratosis Pilaris or Lichen Planus. A bump under the eye is a symptom, not a diagnosis.

Do not squeeze, pierce, scrub, or use strong acids close to the eye. Use gentle cleansing, avoid a recently introduced product, and keep makeup tools clean. A clinician may recommend targeted care; an Antihistamine Treatment can sometimes relieve itch, while Cryotherapy (Lesion Removal) is used only for selected lesions and must be kept away from the eye itself.

Seek urgent care for vision change, severe eye pain, swelling that closes the eye, fever, rapidly spreading redness, or swelling after an injury. Arrange a dermatology visit when a bump bleeds, grows, persists, or sits on the eyelid margin.
