Short answer

Body odour control starts with gentle washing, thorough drying, clean clothing, and reducing excess sweat.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What controls the smell

Odour forms when bacteria process sweat and skin oils, especially in warm, damp areas such as the underarms, feet, groin, and skin folds. Control therefore has two parts: reducing moisture and managing the substances that create scent. Washing removes sweat and residue, while drying limits dampness. Deodorants address odour, whereas antiperspirants reduce the amount of sweat reaching the skin. Neither product replaces assessment when the change is sudden or persistent.

Build a simple routine

Wash after exercise or heavy sweating, dry between skin folds, and change underwear, socks, and shirts when damp. Breathable fabrics and well-ventilated shoes may help. Apply deodorant or antiperspirant to clean, dry, intact skin and follow the instructions. If ordinary products do not help because sweating is substantial, ask about Prescription Antiperspirant or Botox For Sweating. Stop a product that causes ongoing burning, swelling, or a rash.

When control measures are not enough

Seek medical advice when odour continues despite a consistent routine, interferes with daily life, or accompanies itching, scaling, sores, pain, fever, or a sudden increase in sweating. A clinician can look for irritation, infection, medication effects, or a condition affecting sweat production. Spreading redness, marked warmth, pus, or severe tenderness warrants prompt attention.

Questions for your doctor

Is excess sweating driving the odour? Which active ingredient should I try? Could my skin be irritated by my current product, and when should prescription treatment be considered?
