Botox between the eyes: what to expect

Botulinum toxin type A reduces nerve signals to carefully selected muscles. The goal is to soften the inward and downward pull that forms vertical lines, while maintaining enough coordinated movement for a natural expression and appropriate eyebrow position.

The treatment area is near the eyes but remains in mapped facial muscles. Lines beside the outer eyes are crow's feet and involve a different muscle pattern. Horizontal lines across the upper nose may also need separate assessment rather than an extension of a standard glabellar plan.

Visible lines at rest include a skin component, whereas lines appearing only with a strong frown are more movement-driven. Skin thickness, eyebrow shape, eyelid position, facial asymmetry, and habitual forehead use influence what can be changed safely.

Use a licensed medical professional who can examine you while resting, frowning, raising the eyebrows, and closing the eyes. Disclose previous toxin or filler, facial surgery, dry eye, eyelid weakness, neuromuscular illness, medicines, infection, and any earlier reaction to an injectable.

Have the clinician point out the proposed sites and explain which movements should lessen. Follow the product-specific aftercare they provide, keep the clinic's contact details, and attend the planned review rather than seeking immediate correction elsewhere if early asymmetry appears.

Report eyelid droop, persistent double vision, significant eye irritation, marked brow change, spreading redness, discharge, or escalating pain to the treating clinic. Obtain urgent medical help for sudden loss of vision, severe eye pain, trouble breathing or swallowing, generalised weakness, or swelling of the lips, tongue, or throat.

Ask whether your concern is glabellar, nasal, or around the outer eyes; which muscles would be treated; and how your eyelid and brow position affect placement. Also ask who provides follow-up, what unwanted changes are possible, and what the clinic can do if your eyes feel dry or your vision changes.
