Botox between the brows: treatment and safety

The treated zone is the glabella, above the nose and between the eyebrows. Botulinum toxin type A temporarily limits signalling to targeted frown muscles. This reduces the repeated folding that makes vertical expression lines prominent while aiming to preserve a balanced brow position.

Lines visible mainly while frowning tend to respond differently from deep creases present at rest. A static crease may soften without disappearing because skin quality and established folding also contribute. Fillers are not interchangeable with toxin in this vascular area and introduce a different set of risks.

Muscles between the brows interact with the forehead muscles that lift the eyebrows. The injector therefore assesses eyelid position, brow height, existing asymmetry, forehead compensation, and previous treatment before choosing sites and amount.

Tell the clinician about prior facial procedures, eyelid droop, dry-eye symptoms, nerve or muscle disorders, medicines that affect bleeding, allergies, infection near the site, and pregnancy or breastfeeding. Show photographs of your usual expressions if the concern is not obvious during the visit.

Confirm the product name, intended injection pattern, expected change in movement, aftercare, and route for follow-up. Do not proceed with unlabelled product, treatment in a non-clinical setting, or an injector who cannot explain how brow and eyelid position influenced the plan.

Small injection-site bumps, tenderness, bruising, or a headache can occur. Contact the clinic if you develop bothersome brow imbalance, eyelid droop, double vision, increasing swelling, discharge, or worsening pain. Breathing or swallowing difficulty, widespread weakness, sudden vision loss, or a severe allergic reaction requires urgent medical care.

Ask which muscles create your frown pattern, whether you already use the forehead to lift your lids, and how treatment could change brow shape. Discuss what result would be considered too weak or too restrictive, when the clinician reviews outcomes, and how eyelid or brow droop would be handled.
