Time-lapse embryo imaging uses a camera inside an embryo incubator. It captures images at planned intervals while the embryo remains in its controlled culture environment. The images can be viewed as a sequence, allowing the embryology team to see cell division, changes in shape, and pauses or irregular timing in development.

Time-lapse imaging does not replace genetic testing when testing is being considered, and it cannot correct an embryo or improve egg or sperm quality. Ask how your clinic uses the images and which other findings will be included in its recommendation.

The intended design is to observe embryos while limiting the need to remove them from stable incubator conditions. Laboratory staff still monitor culture equipment, temperature, gases, and handling procedures.
