Platinum chemotherapy drugs are anticancer medicines that damage DNA inside rapidly dividing cells.

They contain a platinum-based chemical component. Once a drug reaches cells, it can form changes in DNA that make copying genetic material more difficult. Cancer cells may be less able to recover from this damage, although healthy cells can also be affected.
