For fertility patients in Dubai, the report by Dubai Eye 103.8 that Russian strikes killed eight people in Ukraine and damaged a maternity clinic is a reminder to check where embryos, eggs and sperm are stored, how they can be transferred, and who approves a move if treatment is disrupted.

The highest-stakes readers are patients paying cash for IVF, clinic operations heads responsible for specimen storage, and insurers managing prior approvals. In Dubai, fertility centres operate under Dubai Health Authority (DHA) rules. In Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, the relevant regulator is the Department of Health Abu Dhabi (DOH). What Dubai patients should ask before paying

The first question is financial. Published UAE price points vary by package and inclusions. Dubai Fertility Centre, a DHA facility, lists AED 14,000 for an IVF package and AED 18,000 for an ICSI package, with medications and several add-ons excluded. ART Fertility Clinics UAE lists AED 39,000 for a package that includes IVF/ICSI, PGT-A, freezing and a frozen embryo transfer with medication across its Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Dubai clinics.

Patients should ask for an itemised quote before stimulation starts. The quote should separate consultation, blood tests, scans, medication, egg collection, anaesthesia, embryo transfer, genetic testing, freezing, annual storage and any second-cycle fees.
