5,612 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles recalled in UAE: what clinics and insurers should do

UAE owners of 5,612 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles from model years 2021 to 2025 should arrange a free authorised inspection after a power-steering electrical fault was linked to loss of steering assistance and fire risk.

The healthcare relevance is practical. Dubai clinics using patient transport, home-care visits or staff fleet vehicles need a same-week vehicle identification number check. Insurers need clear scripts for accident, fire and roadside-assistance claims. Patients using these vehicles for appointments should confirm whether the vehicle is affected before travel, especially for dialysis, oncology, rehabilitation and other time-sensitive care.

What the recall covers

CarPrices.ae reported the UAE Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator recall under consumer-safety coverage. Gulf News reported on 5 September 2026 that Trading Enterprises, part of Al-Futtaim, is running the campaign for Dubai and the northern emirates in coordination with the UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism consumer protection authorities.

The defect concerns the electrical connection to the electro-hydraulic power steering pump. Increased electrical resistance can cause overheating. A driver may see a Service Power Steering warning or feel loss of power-steering assistance. In some cases, overheated material near the pump connection may catch fire.

The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued a related notice on 9 June 2026 covering 1,076,999 model-year 2021-2025 Jeep Gladiator and Wrangler vehicles. NHTSA said it was aware of 51 fires and one injury likely linked to the issue, and advised affected owners to park outside and away from vehicles and buildings until repair. UAE notices should be followed locally, but the US warning is a useful risk benchmark for operators managing fleets.

Clinic and insurer actions in Dubai

For healthcare operators, the recall is a fleet-governance issue. A clinic in Dubai regulated by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) should treat any affected transport vehicle as a patient-safety and business-continuity exposure until the authorised repair is documented. The same logic applies in Abu Dhabi under the Department of Health Abu Dhabi (DOH) and in Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah under the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP).
