Yeast Rash Between the Breasts: What to Know

The crease between the breasts can stay warm and damp after exercise, bathing, or a hot day. Friction from skin or clothing may weaken the surface, allowing yeast to multiply. The rash can be smooth and red, moist, tender, or edged with small separate spots. A rash in this area is not automatically yeast: contact dermatitis, heat rash, psoriasis, and intertrigo can have overlapping features. Breast pain, a lump, nipple change, or discharge is a separate concern and should be assessed rather than attributed to a skin rash.

Wash gently, rinse away product, and pat the crease dry. Change out of sweaty clothing and wear a well-fitting, breathable bra or top. A clean, dry cloth can help reduce skin-on-skin moisture, but replace it when damp. Avoid perfume, harsh cleansers, and picking. Ask a pharmacist or clinician about an antifungal suited to the skin and follow the directions. Avoid applying steroid cream alone unless a clinician has advised it.

Get medical advice if the area becomes intensely painful, develops pus, open cracks, spreading warmth, or fever. Arrange an examination if it does not improve with sensible skin care, returns often, or affects both the skin and breast symptoms. People with diabetes or reduced immunity should seek advice earlier.
