What should you know about YAG laser melasma?

Melasma causes brown or grey-brown patches, often on the cheeks, forehead, upper lip, or jaw. Light and heat can stimulate pigment cells, so laser energy must be balanced against the possibility of irritation and rebound darkening. The appearance of patches alone does not establish the diagnosis; other causes of Dark Patches On Skin may look similar.
