Seek urgent help for severe breathlessness, chest pain, heavy bleeding, fainting or sudden confusion. These warning signs need prompt assessment regardless of the surgical technique used.

Ask which body structures will be treated, what the surgeon hopes to achieve, how lymph nodes or margins will be assessed, and what could make an open operation safer. Also ask about recovery, possible complications, rehabilitation and how pathology results will guide the next step.
