Why is C-arm fluoroscopy used in closed reduction?

Closed reduction uses controlled manipulation to move a displaced fracture or joint back toward its intended position. The C-arm is a movable imaging device that can show the injured area from different angles during the manoeuvre. The clinician can assess alignment, check the position after reduction, and decide whether a cast, splint, or further treatment is needed. Imaging also helps avoid relying only on the outside appearance of the limb. The team uses the lowest practical exposure and protects areas that do not need to be in the beam.

Tell the team about pregnancy possibility, medicines, allergies, and previous reactions to sedation or anaesthesia. Follow fasting instructions if sedation is planned. Afterward, keep the cast or splint dry, elevate the limb as advised, and move free fingers or toes if instructed.
