Short answer

Persistent Bloating is a common presentation of Uterine Fibroids. As fibroids grow, they can enlarge the uterus and create pressure or fullness that feels like ongoing bloating.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

At a glance

Possible mechanism
Uterine enlargement can create pressure and abdominal fullness.
Related symptoms
Bloating may occur with constipation, pelvic pressure, or urinary frequency.

Pressure, fullness, and other clues

A fibroid can occupy space in the pelvis and press against the bowel or bladder. This may cause abdominal fullness, a visibly distended lower abdomen, constipation, or the need to urinate more often. The sensation may be more noticeable as the day goes on or around menstruation. Bloating caused by a fibroid is related to pressure and uterine enlargement rather than gas alone.

Bloating has many possible explanations, including digestive and hormonal causes. Its presence does not identify fibroids by itself.

What to record before an appointment

Keep note of whether the bloating changes with meals, bowel movements, your menstrual cycle, or body position. Record associated pelvic pressure, bleeding, urinary symptoms, and changes in clothing fit. A clinician may assess your abdomen and pelvis and use imaging to look at the uterus. Management depends on the cause and how much the symptoms interfere with daily life.

When persistent bloating should be checked

Arrange a review if bloating continues, progressively worsens, or occurs with pelvic pain, heavy bleeding, constipation, urinary difficulty, vomiting, or unexplained tiredness. Seek urgent care for severe escalating abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, inability to pass stool or urine, fainting, or feeling acutely unwell.

Questions worth asking

Ask whether the uterus feels enlarged, whether imaging could explain the pressure, and which other causes should be considered. Discuss symptom relief and what changes would require prompt reassessment.
