Why does sun-damaged skin cause facial volume loss?

Facial Volume Loss is a common presentation of Sun-Damaged Skin. Ultraviolet radiation changes the dermal framework that helps the skin drape over the face. Arrange medical review when facial hollowing appears suddenly, affects one side, follows weakness or numbness, or occurs with unexplained weight loss or other new symptoms. Seek prompt care for swelling, severe pain, skin ulceration, or a rapidly changing area. Even gradual change deserves assessment if it is accompanied by a new lump, persistent rash, or a lesion that bleeds or fails to heal. These features can have causes beyond photoaging.
