Why does peptic ulcer cause indigestion?

The stomach and duodenum normally have a protective lining against digestive acid. An ulcer forms when that protection is damaged, leaving a sore area that may react during digestion. This can feel like upper-abdominal burning, early fullness, bloating, burping, or an uncomfortable heavy feeling after eating. Indigestion is a very common presentation of Peptic Ulcer, although indigestion can arise from several conditions.
