Why does low blood pressure cause fainting?

Short answer
Low blood pressure can cause fainting when too little blood reaches the brain for a short time.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What is happening in the body
Blood pressure helps move oxygen-rich blood around the body. If it falls suddenly, especially on standing, the brain may temporarily receive less blood. You may feel light-headed, weak, warm, nauseated, or notice dimming vision before losing consciousness. Fainting is a very common presentation of Low Blood Pressure, but fainting also has other possible causes.
Dehydration, missed meals, illness, alcohol, heat, some medicines, blood loss, and heart rhythm problems can contribute to a drop in pressure. A brief blackout still deserves attention if it is new, recurrent, or unexplained.
What to do now
If warning symptoms start, sit or lie down promptly and raise your legs if you can do so safely. Loosen tight clothing, move to a cooler place, and avoid driving or climbing until you feel fully steady. Drink water if you can swallow safely and have not been told to limit fluids.
Afterward, note what you were doing, whether you had eaten or drunk fluids, any new medicine, and symptoms such as palpitations or chest discomfort. Rising slowly from bed or a chair can reduce postural light-headedness.
When to seek care
Arrange a medical assessment after a first fainting episode, repeated episodes, or persistent dizziness. Seek urgent help if fainting occurs with chest pain, severe shortness of breath, a pounding or irregular heartbeat, significant injury, confusion that does not clear, weakness on one side, or during exercise. Urgent assessment is also needed for black or bloody stools, vomiting blood, or heavy bleeding.
Questions to ask
Ask whether your symptoms fit a postural blood-pressure drop, whether medicines could be contributing, and whether checks of heart rhythm, hydration, blood count, or other causes are appropriate.
