Why do gallstones cause indigestion?

Bile helps the body digest fats. The gallbladder normally releases bile during digestion, but a stone can interfere with this process or briefly obstruct the gallbladder outlet. This can cause pressure, spasm, and discomfort after a meal, which may feel similar to ordinary dyspepsia. Indigestion is a common presentation of Gallstones, yet reflux, stomach irritation, medicines, and other digestive conditions can produce similar symptoms.
