A home visit, also called a doctor at home or house call, is a general-practice consultation delivered where you live. The doctor asks about your symptoms, checks vital signs, examines you as appropriate, and reviews medicines or known conditions. The visit may suit someone who is acutely unwell, has limited mobility, is recovering after a procedure, or cannot reasonably travel to a clinic.

The clinician may provide advice, prescribe or adjust treatment when appropriate, arrange testing, or recommend a clinic or hospital assessment. What can be done at home depends on the symptoms, available equipment, and the doctor’s assessment.
