Which specialist performs the Epley manoeuvre?

The Epley manoeuvre uses a sequence of head and body positions to move loose inner-ear particles away from a balance canal. It is intended for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, often called BPPV. The clinician first asks about the pattern of dizziness and may perform a positional test. The manoeuvre may briefly bring on spinning, nausea, or imbalance, so it is carried out with support.

Book an assessment with general practice or an ear, nose and throat clinic. Describe which head movements trigger symptoms, how long each episode lasts, and whether you have hearing changes, headache, weakness, or recent injury. Do not perform a video-guided manoeuvre if the diagnosis is uncertain or neck and back movement is unsafe for you. Follow the clinician's aftercare advice.

Seek urgent care for dizziness with new weakness, trouble speaking, double vision, severe headache, fainting, chest pain, or inability to walk. Sudden hearing loss or persistent vomiting also needs prompt assessment. These features are not explained by assuming that positional vertigo is the cause.
