Endometrial scratch, also called endometrial injury, involves gently sampling or disturbing a small area of the uterine lining through the cervix. The fertility specialist explains the proposed timing and whether it fits with your embryo-transfer plan. A nurse may assist with preparation, while the doctor performs the procedure and records any findings. The intervention is separate from embryo transfer, even when both are discussed within the same fertility programme.

Ask when the scratch should be scheduled, what pain relief is suitable, and whether medicines such as blood thinners need special instructions.
