Education can cover meal planning, carbohydrate awareness, reading food labels, activity routines and practical ways to manage diabetes during work, travel or illness. The dietetics specialist adapts advice to your culture, preferences, medicines and other health needs. Education supports the medical plan; it does not replace medication review or urgent treatment when glucose problems are severe.

Bring your usual meal pattern, glucose records if you keep them, medicine list and questions about foods or routines that feel difficult. Describe your work hours, religious or cultural practices and access to cooking facilities. Ask for realistic goals and written instructions that you can use at home.

Seek urgent help for confusion, collapse, severe drowsiness, trouble breathing, repeated vomiting or inability to keep fluids down.
