What should you know about a Vyaire Medical spirometer?

A spirometer connects to a mouthpiece. You breathe in fully, seal your lips around the mouthpiece, and blow out as hard and as long as instructed. The device records measures of air volume and flow, which are viewed as part of the wider clinical picture.

The test may help investigate breathlessness, wheeze, cough, or suspected airflow obstruction. A Spirometer reading is not a diagnosis by itself; symptoms, examination, medicines, and test quality all affect interpretation.

Wear loose clothing and avoid a heavy meal immediately beforehand if your clinic gives that advice. Follow instructions about inhalers; do not stop a medicine unless the testing team tells you to. Tell the clinician if you have chest pain, a recent infection, recent surgery, or difficulty using a mouthpiece.
