What should you know about vomiting and missed miscarriage?

A missed miscarriage occurs when a pregnancy has stopped developing but the body has not yet passed the pregnancy tissue. Some people have no bleeding or pain, while pregnancy symptoms such as nausea and vomiting may continue for a time because hormone levels do not change immediately.

Vomiting has many possible causes, including normal pregnancy sickness, infection, medicines or another stomach problem. The diagnosis of a missed miscarriage is made with clinical assessment and ultrasound, sometimes with repeat testing, rather than by interpreting vomiting alone.
