A clinician can compare images over time when camera position, lighting, skincare, and makeup are kept consistent. The software produces visual measurements or maps; it does not independently diagnose skin cancer, allergy, infection, or the cause of a mark.

Results can be influenced by tanning, moisturiser, makeup, facial expression, recent treatment, and camera positioning. A highlighted feature may be harmless, while a subtle clinical change may not be captured clearly. The image is one part of an assessment, alongside history and direct examination.

Ask whether the appointment requires a clean face and remove makeup, tinted sunscreen, and reflective jewellery if instructed. Tell the clinician about recent peels, lasers, injections, sun exposure, new products, and any changing or symptomatic lesion. Request an explanation of each score or colour map in plain language, including what is visible now and what needs clinical review. Keep comparison images under similar conditions and avoid treating a software label as a diagnosis.

Arrange prompt clinical review for a spot or lesion that is changing, bleeding, painful, persistently crusted, or not healing, even if imaging appears reassuring. Seek urgent help for severe facial swelling, breathing difficulty, or a rapidly spreading reaction after a procedure. Imaging should support examination, not delay assessment of a concerning change.
