Vemlidy contains tenofovir alafenamide and is used for selected people with chronic hepatitis B. It helps reduce viral replication; it does not remove the virus from the body or replace follow-up. Hepatitis B can affect the liver even when a person feels well. Fatigue may occur, and dark urine can be a warning sign of liver inflammation, although both symptoms have other causes. Your clinician considers liver health, kidney function, previous medicines, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and other treatments before prescribing.

Take Vemlidy exactly as prescribed and discuss a missed dose rather than doubling up. Do not stop it suddenly without medical advice, because hepatitis B can flare after antiviral treatment is interrupted. Keep appointments for blood tests, including liver function tests, and tell clinicians about all medicines, supplements and over-the-counter products. Avoid sharing personal items that may carry blood, and discuss vaccination for household or sexual contacts where appropriate. Alcohol can add strain to the liver, so ask about your own limit.

Contact your hepatitis team promptly for yellowing of the skin or eyes, worsening dark urine, severe abdominal symptoms, marked vomiting, or a sharp increase in fatigue. Seek urgent care for confusion, vomiting blood, black stools, or severe weakness. Do not wait for the next routine appointment if you feel acutely unwell.
