What should you know about tiny itchy bumps on skin?

A rash can be driven by a weakened skin barrier, contact with an irritant or allergen, inflammation, yeast, or mites. Atopic Dermatitis often causes itch and dry sensitive skin. Contact Dermatitis tends to follow exposure. Asteatotic Eczema may appear with dry cracked skin, while Psoriasis or Lichen Planus can have more defined recurring patterns. Scabies may cause intense itch and affect close contacts; Hives can appear as raised changing areas. A Skin Yeast Infection is more likely to need examination when there is moisture, scaling, or a defined edge.

These conditions can overlap in appearance. The body sites, timing, surface changes, household symptoms, and response to products are more useful than bump size alone.

Use lukewarm water and a fragrance-free cleanser, pat dry, and moisturise soon after washing. Keep nails short, use a cool compress, and choose loose breathable clothing. Stop newly introduced fragranced products until the skin is clearer. Do not scratch, squeeze, or apply several medicated creams at once; doing so can irritate skin and make the pattern harder to assess. Photographing a changing rash can help a clinician compare its course.

Get urgent help for breathing difficulty, swelling of the face or tongue, faintness, or a rapidly spreading rash. Seek prompt assessment for fever, severe pain, pus, red streaks, extensive blistering, skin peeling, or eye or mouth involvement. Arrange a review when itch is intense at night, household members are affected, the rash keeps returning, or symptoms do not improve with gentle care.
