Tinea versicolor on the face: causes and what to know

The yeast can interfere with pigment production in the affected skin. Facial patches may be lighter, tan, pink, or brown compared with nearby skin, and they may have a subtle powdery scale. Warm, humid conditions, sweating, oily skin, and products that trap moisture can encourage the yeast to multiply. This is not a sign of poor hygiene, and it is not spread by ordinary contact.
