Tension headache in the right temple

Tension-type headache pain is often described as a band, pressure, or steady ache. It can be felt on one side, including around one temple, even though muscle tension may involve the forehead, jaw, neck, or shoulders. Screen posture, jaw clenching, missed meals, stress, poor sleep, or eye strain can contribute. A right-temple symptom alone cannot identify the cause, so notice its pattern and accompanying symptoms.

Rest in a quiet, comfortably lit room and drink water. Try a warm pack across the neck or shoulders, gentle shoulder movement, and a break from close screen work. Relax the jaw by keeping the teeth apart when you are not eating. If you use an over-the-counter pain reliever, follow its label and check with a pharmacist if you have another illness, take regular medicines, or are pregnant. Record triggers, timing, duration, and what helps.

Seek urgent medical help for a sudden, extremely severe headache, new weakness or numbness, confusion, fainting, a seizure, trouble speaking, loss of vision, high fever with a stiff neck, or a headache after a significant head injury. Arrange a GP assessment if the right-temple pain is new and persistent, keeps returning, changes pattern, or is not settling with sensible self-care.
