What should you know about temporary lip fillers?

The result changes as the body gradually breaks down the material, so the effect is not a one-time permanent change.

Expect short-term puffiness, sensitivity, bruising, or small areas of firmness. The final appearance should be judged after the early swelling has eased. A consultation should cover your goals, previous filler, allergies, medicines, cold-sore history, and any active infection near the mouth.

Choose an appropriately trained medical practitioner who can examine your lips and explain the product, injection plan, alternatives, and follow-up. Avoid arranging treatment when the skin around the mouth is infected or inflamed. Follow the individual aftercare instructions, keep the area clean, and avoid pressing, squeezing, or repeatedly checking the lips while they are swollen.
