Temple dermal filler: what to know

A qualified injector assesses temple contour, facial balance, skin quality and the cause of apparent hollowing. A hyaluronic acid filler may be placed in carefully chosen tissue planes to add support and soften shadows. The result depends on anatomy, product choice, placement and the amount used; filler is not a substitute for diagnosing sudden or unexplained facial change.

Swelling, tenderness, bruising or mild asymmetry can occur after injections. Some products can be adjusted or dissolved by a clinician, while other materials behave differently. Alternatives may include a collagen biostimulator injection, Botox when muscle activity is the concern, or fat transfer when a surgical approach is suitable.

Choose a licensed medical professional who regularly treats the temple and can explain the product, injection plane, expected appearance and emergency plan. Share allergies, medicines, previous filler, bleeding problems, autoimmune conditions, pregnancy plans and any active skin infection. Do not conceal recent procedures or a history of unusual reactions.

After treatment, follow the injector’s instructions, avoid pressing or massaging the area unless told to do so, and allow early swelling to settle before judging symmetry. Keep the review appointment if one is offered. Take a dated photograph if changes are difficult to describe.

Contact the treating clinician urgently for worsening or severe pain, pale or dusky skin, marked swelling, new weakness, vision change, difficulty speaking or unusual headache after injection. These symptoms require prompt assessment because blood-flow problems or another complication may need immediate treatment. Do not wait for a routine review or attempt to correct the area yourself.

Ask what is causing the hollowing, which filler and tissue plane are proposed, how the plan protects nearby vessels, what alternatives fit your anatomy, how swelling will be managed, and who to call outside clinic hours.
